All seven species ofmarine turtles are known to ingest marine debris
(Kühn et al., 2015). A recent meta-analysis found evidence that plastic
ingestion has increased among green turtles Chelonia mydas over the
last three decades, but the trend was only marginally significant
among loggerhead turtles, which have the lowest likelihood of ingesting
debris worldwide (Schuyler et al., 2014a).
