China Banking System
Based on the automation plan of the pboc,all commercial banks are linked up by a system developed by the central government. Gbl has to maintain a software system provide by pboc for reporting purpose. But the system is not compatible with the intetnational bank system,so gbl needs to maintain another system integrated with their foreign operations. Two systems are running separately in gbl to meet the different reporting requirements of pboc and the bank itself. A challenge posed by the local bank system is mapping and auditing.the capability of the local system is also insufficient for the large volume of transactions,therefore, the processing ofocedures are not fully automated and tracing a particular transaction is very difficult. The system is feasible only if the customet base is narrow. To overcome this problem, gbl has downloaded the data from the system for further processing by additional pc software applications. The technology now adopted by gbl in their china operations includes windows,the inteanet, the intetnet, e-commerce and accounting programmes . Gbl has also developed imaging which is the most recent technology in the banking industry
