3. Results
3.1. Variation in AFLP loci
Five hundred and seventeen genome-wide amplified fragments were unambiguously scored for 198 individuals using six
pairs of selective primers. The sizes of the amplified fragments ranged from 70 to 500 base pairs. Among the 517 loci, 240
(46.4%) were polymorphic, with each primer combination used in the selective amplification showing levels of polymorphism
ranging between 33.3% and 55.2%. The number of polymorphic loci per location ranged from 37.1% to 64.2%, with the highest
