Welcome to Innovative Healthcare
In the present world, virtually all health organizations have become increasingly aware of the importance of healthcare management and service system development. Based on world class healthcare service policies characterized by quality and high standards, service provision has changed from a traditional approach to a proactive approach, relying more on result-based management which principally takes into consideration quality, cost, and access to care. Thailand has developed a set of healthcare provision policies that are designed to progress towards its desired status as “The Medical Hub of Asia.” This change means that the personnel of all health-providing institutions have to take greater responsibility for their healthcare management so that it is in line with the higher expectations of society regarding quality and standards of healthcare provision.
The Master of Science Program in Innovative Healthcare Management (MIHM) at Thammasat University is a program in which students can develop their capacity in managing healthcare professionally in light of the changing perspectives in the provision of healthcare service at the global level. The students that graduate from this program will be better prepared in terms of their understanding of the corpus of knowledge in healthcare and managerial expertise. They will also acquire a comprehensive and profound foundation in knowledge and enlightened perspectives within globalizing capitalist contexts in relation to socio-economic, cultural, political, ethical, and international legal issues. They will also develop a thorough understanding of current technological advances in the modern world characterized by rapid population mobility and information distribution, as well as gain leadership skills in initiating changes in healthcare management, resulting in a better quality of life for the population in their regions, which in turn will contribute to better quality of life at the global level.
Innovative Healthcare Management, which has been widely offered on a commercial basis, is a field that has attracted the attention of many societies at present. However, healthcare management cannot be administered in a principally profit-seeking manner. As such, the main objective of this program is to produce healthcare personnel that possess managerial expertise with international recognition. This will be achieved through the development of their potential to the level where they have a thorough grounding with respect to health systems, policies, legal frameworks, and ethics, both at the national and global levels, in order to ensure that healthcare service development will continue on a sustainable basis. The target groups include high-level executives, administrators of health-related work, academics, and practitioners that are prospective healthcare management executives in the Asian and Pacific regions.
