Segmentation Analysis is performed with the objective to optimize discriminatory power through segmentation. This is done by selecting a scheme that brings maximum improvement based on:-
• Heuristic – business lending such as product differentiation, marketing strategies or change in customer service environment
• Empirical – data driven using CHAID
• Best Practice – best practice recommendations that make practical sense to GSB
Segmentation Analysis can begin at high level characteristic level to determine Risk Differentiation and follow by detailed Segmentation analysis at the individual characteristic level to determine if multiple scorecards are warranted.
Segmentation will be evaluated with the following considerations:-
• Trade-off between complexity and lift
• “Master / niche” comparison
• Reasonable and consistent with business requirements
• Stable
• Predictiveness rank-ordering
• Feasible to implementation
