The decision to inscribe the Hälsingland farms on the World Heritage List was made in the summer of 2012 at the World Heritage Committee meeting in St. Petersburg.
UNESCO's World Heritage Committee was unanimous in its opinion that the Hälsingland farms have unique universal value. They fill a gap on the World Heritage List because structures built by farmers have previously been under-represented on the World Heritage list.
Through the World Heritage Declaration, the whole world gets the opportunity to enjoy Hälsingland's exquisite interior design and building culture.
