or their attempt to behave ”liberally“, “indulgently“, not “missionarily“ or not in an
“extremist“ way regarding their children’s food wishes (to be liberal with children).
Furthermore, concessions can be an attempt to avoid conflicts with children. Reasons
for this can be that parents are afraid of provoking their children’s resistance, or that
they cannot keep being firm, as it might be too exhausting in the long term. Besides,
parents’ concerns to fulfil their children’s demands can refer to their intention to let
children have their own experiences, which also includes conventional food. If parents
fulfil their children’s preferences for particular conventional food, they can do this in an
unrestricted way by purchasing particular food in conventional quality in general. For
instance, one interviewee stated:
