The photograph indicated
widespread loss of muscle fiber integrity with some areas damaged so
extensively that muscle fiber structure was indistinguishable. Unexplainably,
cross sections were not as conclusive as longitudinal sections
in terms of consistent damage to muscle structure in all animals. Fig. 7f
depicts a treated cross section that is very comparable to its control
counterpart, Fig. 7e. Interestingly, longitudinal sections from all treated
animals exhibited similar patterns of damage to muscle structure.
