Temperature environment under row covers
Inflating the air gap between the cover and the soil surface of mulching can recreate the
environment of row covers. Row covers are not flat; therefore, irradiation is different from
mulching in its details. But the overall nature could be simulated by a simple model
neglecting this difference. The only difference is that the air layer between the cover and the
soil surface air is replaced by ventilation. The heat balance of the inside air is depicted in
Fig. 6.8.
