Next, we compare the complexity/performance of the switchantenna
array and multiple-channel antenna array FMCW radar
systems provided that these two systems have the same total
number of observations of MW, where W is the number of
observations in the single sweep. The total number of transmitted
sweeps in the case of the switch system is Ntotal = M,
while that in the multiple-channel system case is Ntotal = 1.
The data-acquisition time of a system is equal to NtotalT, and
therefore, those of the switch and multiple-channel systems
are MT and T, respectively. Since the total numbers of observations
of both systems are same, the considered systems
have the same computational load O(MW) in the algorithm
implementation. The angular and range resolutions of both systems
are inversely proportional to M and BW, respectively. In
Table I, we summarize the complexity/performance comparison
between the switch-antenna array and multiple-channel antenna
array radar systems.
