A. Clustering
Cluster means “to grouping”. A large amount of information is looked into in this process. When we group the large pieces of information, we find some very interesting trends. Sometime the grouping leads to the discovery of new knowledge. These new trends can discover a new pattern of knowledge. This new pattern of knowledge can be utilised an industry for future development and provide an edge over its competitor
B. Question answering (sophisticated search)
In sophisticated search, we find the specific piece of information. In case of standard text searching techniques we normally use Boolean operators for combining or separating terms. This searching method does not provide in depth and specific information. Sentence or phrase level searching and identification of verbal connection between the various search terms are not possible in simple search. Here text mining provides the solution. Through text mining sophisticated search is possible. Sentence or phrase level connection and specific verbal connections can be executed with text mining. Hence the limitation of traditional Boolean search is vanished here. The result obtained by sophisticated search can be used for providing specific information, which can be utilised by an organisation by various ways
C. Concept linkages
Concept linkage means the linking of concepts. Linking of concepts leads to generation of new hypothesis. In hypothesis generation various concepts are linked together. The process is known as Swanson’s process. With the help of various text mining tools sophisticated search is carried out. Through sophisticated search various results are obtained. These results are linked together to generate new hypothesis. This new hypothesis is the base of the further research. Through research we can generate new domain of knowledge. Hence the concept linkage application of text mining can be utilised to generate new domain of knowledge
