Despite some of the shortcomings in the ways
in which policy actors have responded to
sustainability challenges, this is also a time of
opportunity. There are many concrete examples
from around the world of alternative pathways
that move towards sustainability and gender
equality. Some of these are emerging from
women’s and men’s everyday practices of
accessing, controlling, using and managing
forests, soils, water and urban landscapes in
ways that sustain their livelihoods and enhance
their well-being.
