This paperpresentsthedesignandperformancecharacteristicsofanewtypecyclone
separator.Thedesignofthiscycloneisbasedontheideaofimprovingcycloneefficiency
by increasingthevortexlength.Thiscyclonediffersfromaclassicalcyclonewiththe
separationspace.Insteadofconicalpart,theseparationspaceofthiscycloneconsistsof
an outercylinderandavortexlimiter.Amodelofthiscyclonehasbeenmanufactured
and tested.Collectionefficiencyandpressuredropofthiscycloneweremeasuredunder
differentoperationalconditions.Experimentalresultswerecomparedwiththeconven-
tional cyclones.Theeffectsofthepositionofthevortexlimiteronthecyclone
performancewerealsoinvestigated.
