GVL assisted hydrolysis was used to drive
fermentable
sugars from sugarcane bagasse.
After removal of lignin, sugarcane bagasse was efficiently hydrolyzed, forming a 248.4 g/L sugar mixture with a high yield of 0.87 g/g.
High level of NaCl and GVL left in the aqueous phase during phase separation process seriously inhibited the cell growth of C. acetobutylicum XY16.
The sugars in hydrolysate were successfully converted to ABE solvents at a high concentration of 14.26 g/L, indicating that the hydrolysate generated by GVL/water solution is an alternative substrate for the low-cost production of butanol.
