The results also showed that the onset of diabetes-
related complications might be associated
with the time at disease diagnosis, given that,
among patients who had the disease for more than
10 years, the percentage of those who presented
complications (32.2%; 156) was greater than the
percentage of complications among those who had
had the disease for less than five years (12.1%; 45)
and between five and ten years (14.2%; 66), as
shown in table 3.
