The fact that this study analyzed hemoglobin
levels and the occurrence of
anemia, before and after the regulation of
flour fortification, enables a baseline or
reference diagnosis and the evolution of the
problem at least one year after the effective
implementation of the strategy. There were
no differences in the low prevalences of
anemia, both before and after flour fortification.
These results are important and serve
as positive feedback for the city’s public
health services and health professionals
who work there.
