Seasonal variations of TOC levels
were more important in QC systems than NL systems. In fact,
the Province of Quebec has a continental climate characterized
by extreme temperatures in winter and summer. The island of
Newfoundland & Labrador has a maritime climate, which
means tempered summers and warmer winters. One reason
for the similarity between TOC levels in QC and NL in the fall
(Fig. 1a) might be due to the similar meteorological conditions
during this season.
