During preliminary study, we evaluated a range of fuel input
rates (105, 110, 115, and 120 MW) in order to understand the
impact on system performance for a 0.19 hm3 y1 (50 million
gallon per year) dry-grind ethanol plant. We found that
110MWprovided a good balance in addressing the overall goal
of meeting the plant process energy and electricity needs, plus
sending as much electricity to the grid as possible. Therefore, a
fuel input rate of 110MWis used for the rest of the simulations.
