Similar to trypsin, lipase activity was found to display a distally
increasing pattern in pre-OTS fish (Fig. 4C), with significantly greater
activity in the distal section than in the proximal section (F2,18=
5.1287; P= 0.01). No significant differences were found in post-OTS
fish as activity was relatively uniform along the gut. Of the three
enzymes assayed, lipase showed the greatest variability among postOTS
samples (CV= 0.97). TSGA was significantly greater in post-OTS
fishes than in pre-OTS fishes (t=−3.23, d.f.= 9.00; P= 0.01).
