Loss of Ignition (LoI) of the brick mixtures, after firing is related
to the dehydroxylation reactions, lost of humidity and carbonates
decomposition in the clay minerals and the combustion of the
organic matter present in the biomass residues (Table 3) (PerezVillarejo
et al., 2010). The standard brick has a LoI of 11.20%, compared
with the other mixtures reported in Table 3 it is possible to
observe that the mixes prepared with the woody biomass showed
higher values of LoI with respect to the standard one and the values
increase as the woody biomass percentage present is
increasing.
