Cancer fatigue and cancer treatment-related fatigue exacerbate the problems that patients experience in every one of these quality-of-life dimensions (Ferrell, Grant, Dean, Funk, and Ly, 1996; Mor, 1992). Patients at RMCRI have experienced these cancer- and cancer treatment-related symptoms with diminished quality of life. Within the six month exercise intervention that RMCRI provides, all patients have reported significant improvements in their quality of life since they were diagnosed with cancer. If, then, we care about our patients and obviously we do - we will realize how vital it is for us to incorporate exercise into patients' treatment regimens to help reduce the fatigue and other negative side effects that so markedly influence every aspect of their lives.
