This part of the analysis focuses on the functional systems
within the equipment such as control system, brake system,
pneumatic system. The analysis comprises two stages: a
Functional Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and a
Task Analysis. These are used to identify the potential failure
modes, the consequences of those failures and then identify
the most applicable and effective maintenance task to mitigate
the failure mode. The analysis also identifies the appropriate
frequency at which the maintenance task should be
undertaken.
