Ease of Use
Laser can be an alternative to micro-arc welding for mold restoration.
The skill required for precision micro TIG welding is considerable and the cost is commensurate to that skill.
The position of the TIG torch is subject to precise manipulation by a skilled welder. In the case of laser
welding, the laser beam is typically 13 to 15 cm away from the workpiece, and positioning is done via
motorized work-stage and joystick control. This takes the artistry out of mold repair and lets anyone with
basic mechanical skills become a skilled welder.
