While the Ice Bucket Challenge raised awareness for ALS, it also raised a great deal of money for research into the disease—over $100 million. The #FeelingNuts campaign does not ask for a financial donation to the cause. Instead the hashtag-driven awareness campaign is hoping to prevent the disease by encouraging self-examination.
The campaign has been making slow progress since it kicked off in August. Gervais originally got involved in August and Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer joined in mid-September, but Jackman's involvement will likely bring more awareness to the awareness campaign.
