In this paper we have proposed a method to guide the
strategic planning and implementation process, by ensuring
that the projects that are implemented in an organisation are
thoroughly evaluated and monitored, that they are in line with
the organisational goals and strategies, and by including the
possibility of running impact analyses. This is achieved by
combining 11 strategy models, EA, and the business case in a
method that follows the strategic planning process. The method
has been illustrated by means of the ArchiSurance case study.
The topic of aligning strategic thinking to strategy
implementation is still in its infancy. Because of this there is
not that much information available on the major concerns that
organisations have in this area. This should be a top priority for
improving the method of this paper and all other methods that
are dealing with the same topic. Another aspect that has
become clear during this research was that there are few
models for strategic choices offering a good framework and/or
guideline. The ones that do either make many assumptions or
are based on heavy calculations. Because of this, the strategic
choices phase could be considered the method’s weakest link.
One of the possible continuations of this work would be to
use the method as a tool for identifying the specific costs of
pursuing certain goal or strategy. In the same manner it could
be used to help make in-depth cost/value analyses of
organisational strategies and goals. This could help
organisations obtain accurate estimates on how profitable the
pursuit of certain strategies could be
