Ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) tes

Ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) testing is a preferred nondestructive
method that can be used to determine the elastic properties
of concrete. The practical issues/limitations associated with
using this method is described in detail in literature [8,10,11]. In
the past, this technique has been used successfully to obtain the
modulus of elasticity of normal concrete [9,10,12,13]. Qixian and
Bungey [14] used the UPV surface (indirect) transmission successfully
to determine the modulus of elasticity and Poisson’s ratio for
normal concrete. A review of the literature has shown that previously
the surface transmission has not been tested on UHPFRC
[15,16]. Therefore, this study has been conducted to investigate
the suitability and accuracy of this testing method.
