Gerais, Reis et al. [8] concluded that either the
present plantation area would have to be moved
to higher elevation (a shift considered impractical)
or the genetic material would have to be
completely replaced following the global strategyproposed by Ledig and Kitzmiller [17]. In addition
to direct eects of temperature considered
by Reis et al. [8], temperature increases have a
synergistic eect with drought, the impact of dryness
being worse at higher temperatures (lower
elevations) due to higher water demands in plantations.
