Careful attention is rarely paid to the possibility of conceiving multifunctional spaces where parking is associated with other activities. Moreover, the evolution through time of these areas is poorly analysed, as well as their conversion to new uses at the end of their life cycle, or even their dismantlement and natural or agricultural reconversion in periurban and extraurban contexts. If we deal with these issues properly, we can gain useful elements which prove to have positive and virtuous effects on the formal and material project of parking areas, thus leading to a balance between function and spatial composition aspects, in a medium and long-term perspective.
