Two types of validity measures – discriminant and convergent –
were examined. Discriminant validity addresses the concept that
the measures (observed indicators) of dissimilar constructs that
theoretically should not be related to each other, in fact, are
observed to not be related to each other (Zikmund, 1997). This
means that observed indicators that measure one construct should
not be related to the measures of other constructs in the
measurement model if the constructs in the proposed measurement
model have discriminant validity.
