In thisstudy,aconventionalmanobondpromoteraswellasanewlysynthesizedkaolinmodifiedresin
(KMR) wereappliedinvariousconcentrationsintorubbermixestoinvestigatetheirperformancein
improvingtheadhesionbetweenNRandbrass-coatedsteelcords.Twotypesofsteelcordswereusedto
prepareT-shapesamplesforpullouttest.Thesampleswereagedunderaerobicagingconditionsor
exposedtoionizingradiationandtheadhesionforcewasexamined.Theanalysisofvariance(ANOVA)
was usedtoobtainageneralunderstandingoftheimpactofchangingvariousparametersandtheir
inter-relationshipsonthestaticadhesionbetweenNRandbrass-coatedsteelcords.Theresults
revealedthattheuseofthepreparedpromoterhassignificantlyresultedintheclearstabilityofthe
cure rateindexoftheNRmixes.Also,thepresenceofKMRintherubbermixenhancesthemechanical
propertiesoftherubbertoagreatextent.TheresultsshowedalsothattheNRmixeswithKMR
promoterhavehigheradhesionlevelsthanthoseofthemanobondpromoter.
