Some people have assumed that the most crucial of these home elements for furthering moral development is the degree to which the atmosphere is warm, loving, and identification-inducing. However ,Kohlberg said this is not so. Apparently some minimum level of warmth in personal contacts with others is necessary for a child or adolescent to feel that he or she is an accepted participant in the social circle. However, what is far more important is that the environment furnish many role-taking opportunities, not that the child receive maximum affection from the group.
