A perceived lack of resources by many of the schools surveyed may be an additional indication that the educators are limited in their content and pedagogical knowledge of science education. It may be extrapolated that many respondents still view science experimentation and exploration as high-tech, requiring expensive gadgetry and materials. This perception can be influenced by good professional development models and teacher mentors who can demonstrate the use of low cost, every day materials in the use of simple demonstrations and hands-on projects that focus on science concepts.
