2.11. Devising the optimum values for some of the ingredients and the pH in the SH medium that might be suitable for commercial production

The amounts of the major ingredients, yeast extract, peptone and sucrose, in the SH medium were optimized.

They were as follows: peptone, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9%; yeast extract, 0.1, 0.3,0.5, 0.7 and 0.9%; sucrose, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0%; pH,3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0.

The experiments were done in triplicate.
