Moreover, the method has not
shown any deteriorating effect on the lipid classes as well as
fatty acid composition. Compared with conventional extraction
methods, this proposed method did not require drying or
heating and can potentially reduce the energy consumption of
the extraction process. Moreover, ethanol was approved as a
safe and ecofriendly solvent, suggesting that the residual
biomass could be used for producing foodstuffs and food
ingredients after lipid extraction.14 However, in that study, the
potential of the proposed method in the lipid extraction was
only tested in one microalga and the underlying mechanism of
extracting lipids has not been explored
