ansport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt has expressed confidence that the government's high speed train project will efficiently facilitate product distribution in the country and immensely boost employment.
Mr. Chadchart talked about the high speed train project during PM Yingluck Shinawatra's weekly TV program on Saturday, saying he believes Thailand will have to invest make considerable investment in basic infrastructure projects to cut logistics costs, in ten years' time.
One of the projects mentioned during the weekly TV show was the rail transport system, which the government has been trying to promote. He also noted that the state investment in the high speed train system will benefit the goods distribution greatly.
In addition, the minister said that the high speed train project will likely lead to the establishment of a green city and offer at least 500,000 new jobs in the country.
He added that the construction of dual-track rail system to connect Bangkok with its surrounding provinces is believed to help enhance the effectiveness of Thailand's transport network.
Mr. Chadchart went on to say that the Transport Ministry plans to improve the conditions of all main roads and introduce new shortcuts across the country, partly to help facilitate cross-border trade.
