In the early stages of the revolution the workers would be led by a dictatorship of the poletariat (made up of educated Marxists) which would be needed to guide the revolution in order to create the new society. But once that was done, the government would no longer be needed and in time it would simply wither away (die out). This last stage would then be true communism.
