Population Genetics
Populations are groups of individuals belonging to the same species that live in a particular geographic area.
Although Darwin’s theory of natural of natural selection works by favouring
Individuals in a population of varying members, this individual selection impacts
Generations in that certain traits are prevalent on a population level. In other words, individuals are selected but populations evolve. The beginning of population genetics was therefore a breakthrough in defining evolutionary theory. Evolution, on the smallest scale, can be defined as a change in the genetic makeup of a population.
