The belt consists of a wire mesh with a free flow area of
96.4% through the belt to aid flow through the product bulk,
but small particles can easily fall through this wire mesh.
These product particles can build a deposit on the guide
plates, if they are flat plates without no slope. Flat air guiding
plates were tested in the dryer and resulted in deposit formation.
Inclined roof-style plates were chosen to allow particles
to slide through and avoid building up a deposit.
Furthermore there should be a space between the guiding
plates to allow particles to fall to the bottom of the dryer.
