Single-layer woven fabrics consist of two orthogonal series of yarns, namely warp and weft yarns, which interlace to form a self-supporting textile architecture. The basic interlacing patterns are the plain weave, twill weave and sateen/satin weave, as shown in Figures 1(a)–(c). Behera and Hari1 categorized more complex interlacing patterns for the single-layer woven fabrics as rib, basket, herringbone, crepe, etc. These fabric patterns display two-dimensional (2D) planar geometry.
