What Criteria or Standards Did You Use To Judge This? Students were judged on the following criteria:
1. Did the map key coordinate with the map
2. Could the child tell the class what was on the map
3. Did the child form the landforms and bodies of water accurately?
SIMPLE MACHINES (GRADE 3)
Brief Description of Activity Students have been studying simple machines in a science class. This is the culminating activity. Students create their own machine to do a job. Students are given the criteria for judging their projects in advance.

Creative: Develops unique projects, exhibits innovative thinking, expresses own unique perspective using materials, uses recognized methods to produce an original work
Social-Emotional: Initiates independent activity, completes assigned task, respects materials
What Criteria or Standards Did You Use To Judge This? Criteria is given to each child when the project is assigned. Students will be able to:
1. Identify the problem (the job to do)
2. Sketch (blueprint) and label the parts
3. List and get recyclable materials
4. Build the machine
5. Make changes if necessary
6. Present the project to the class with an understanding of simple machines
