In a study of ED patients, TM temperatures had a
mean difference compared to oral (mercury-in-glass) temperature
of -0.015 °C, with limits of agreement -0.88 to
+0.85 °C, compared to chemical oral thermometry which
had a mean difference from oral temperatures of -0.077 °C
with limits of agreement from -1.14 to 0.98 °C, thus indicating
TM measures were more accurate and precise than
chemical oral thermometry (Fadzil et al., 2010).
