In order to ensure energy security of Ukraine the Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining Industry plans to increase domestic gas production at least by 5 bcm in coming 5 years. Minister of Energy and Coal Mining Industry Vladimir Demchishin stated at the briefing held in the government house on September 28, Caspian Energy News (www.caspianenergy.net) reports with reference to the press service of the government of Ukraine.
According to him, “it will happen partially at the expense of private producers, provision of new licenses, including to Ukrgazdobicha.
Minister noted the necessity of lowering rent fees, which will stimulate inflow of additional investments into the Ukrainian extractive industry”, as well as settling land allocation.
“Within the framework of allocation of lands for use of oil and gas producing companies, the procedure must be simple and much faster”, Vladimir Demchishin noted, adding that the work on facilitating the process of getting permits for gas products is ongoing (70 different permits have to be received now). There is a working group which is engaged in this matter”, he noted.
According to the Minister, Ukraine is producing about 20 bcm per year.
