Denzin termed the use of multiple methods triangulation
and expanded the concept into four
basic types: 1) data; 2) investigator; 3) theoretical;
and 4) methodological. Data triangulation
ensures that a variety of views of a phenomenon
are collected using the same strategy (eg the same
structured interview guide is used with people
from different parts of an organisation). Denzin
likened this to theoretical sampling, an approach
that is common in grounded theory designs
(Strauss & Corbin 1998).
