Some of the farmers have been engaged in long-term ethical budgeting.
The longer term makes it possible to consider new investments. Roughly,
the budgeting has involved an iterative planning process, in which initial
suggestions first gave rise to a number of alternative future production
plans for further consideration. Researchers have then estimated the
consequences of these plans and presented their calculations to the farmer.
The farmer has then adjusted the plans he still found interesting to his
preferences and has asked the researchers for new calculations, and so on.
