Disks for FTIR spectroscopy were prepared in a Graseby-Specac
Press
using cell walls (2 mg) mixed with KBr (1:100 m/m). IR
spectra
(4000–400 cm
−1
) were recorded using a VERTEX 70 spectrometer
with a resolution of 4 cm
−1
and 32 scans per sample. A
window
between 1800 and 800 cm
−1
, which contains information
of
characteristic polysaccharides, amide, and ester, was selected
to
monitor cell wall structure modifications. All spectra were normalized
and baseline-corrected with OPUS management software.
