New FDA number: Please see here the explanation from ASA
I had also sent you a copy of this email when I sent it to all suppliers. Did not you receive this email?
After 911 attacked our country, FDA has enforced a new regulation, all overseas suppliers exporting foodstuffs to USA have to register with FDA, they will assign a “registration” number to the applicant. The exporter/manufacturer has to provide US Customs/FDA registration number (it used to call Bioterrorism Registration Number) for every shipment coming to our country from overseas, the entry cannot be cleared if they cannot provide an import agent’s FDA registration number.
I informed our FDA registration number to our suppliers, so that they can put this number in the shipping documents (It is ideal to put this number on the invoice), in case their current import agent has an invalid (expired), our custom broker can use our number to clear customs/FDA.
The registration is good for two years for all parties (manufacturer/exporter/importer) need to renew, they need to renew on or before expiration date.
I think JMB’s packers should know about this registration matter.
Please confirm you acknowledgement by return. Thanks.
