In line with the findings of other researchers, especially where the WDEQ-A has been used as a screening tool, parity was statistically associated with childbirth fear [14,28]. Nulliparous women had a 10-point higher mean WDEQ-A score compared to multiparous women. The reasons for higher fear levels as well as higher prevalence in women having their first baby may be related to the uncertainty of birth, or because these women are confronting a major life transition (physically, psychologically and socially) to becoming a mother
