The uptake of nutrients in the shoot was in the order of N > K > Mg >Ca > P > Fe > Mn > Zn > Cu. Fageria et al. (1997) reported more or less similar order of accumulation of macro and micronutrients in lowland rice plants. Uptake of all the macro and micronutrients were having significant positive correlation with shoot dry weight plus grain yield (Table 2). Hence, improving uptake of macro and micronutrients in lowland rice in the soil under investigation can increase shoot and grain yield. Phosphorus and zinc were having highest correlation with shoot dry weight plus grain yield. deficiency of P and Zn is reported in lowland rice grown in central part of Brazil (Fageria et al., 2003).
