Analytical methods
Biomass concentration (g.l
) was
determined daily by measuring the optical density at 750nm
(A750). After having established the relationship between
A750 and dry weight (dw[g.l
−1
] = A750 ∗ 0.35, R
=0.99),
total biomass in the suspension was calculated, taking into
account the suspension volume variations due to evaporation
and rain. Net daily algal productivity, including night
biomass loss, was estimated from the difference between
successive morning values of total biomass divided by the
exposed surface (35 m
2
) of the photobioreactor.
