E-Government is all about technology, isn’t it? Why should there be so much politicking around e-government? In short, because two pre-conditions of politicking are met. First, there are interdependent groups that have different objectives and values. This is clearly the case in public sector organizations. The ‘interdependent but different’ perspective applies to the formal functional divisions within public agencies. IT also applies particularly to e-government system. Second, there are important but scarce resources involved. E-government brings together in large amount both critical tangible resources – people, money and equipment – and critical intangible resources – information, power and kudos. They therefore from a key locus for organizational politics.
